House security officials have issued a notice advising all members of Congress to use the underpass on Jan. 6 to enter, exit and travel between the Capitol and office buildings.

The notice, obtained by The Epoch Times on Jan. 5 and issued by Capitol Security Officer Paul D. Irving, said, “Consideration should be given to the fact that demonstrations and street closures will affect access to the Capitol area.”

Irving said, “The Capitol’s Rayburn, Cannon and East Capitol underground garages will be open for use. Whenever possible, Members of Congress and staff who are authorized to park in the garage are encouraged to use the garage. All Capitol Square parking and driving permit holders will be able to park in the Rayburn Garage and have access to the G1R and G2R levels.”

He added, “When entering and exiting the House Office Building and the Capitol, guards and U.S. Capitol Police encourage members and staff to use the underground entrances and the underground tunnels in Cannon and Rayburn Buildings rather than walking or driving through the Capitol Plaza.”

These “underpasses” refer to tunnels that span several blocks between the office building and the U.S. Capitol, which is not a common procedure, the report said.

The notice also said, “Access to the House Office Building will be restricted beginning at 7 a.m. on Jan. 6. Only members of Congress and staff with valid congressional ID cards will be allowed to enter the House Office Building.” “In addition to the existing vehicle barricades, garage and pedestrian entrances, some access points with vehicle barricades will be re-established on Jan. 6 to assist members and staff in entering Congress.”

In addition, the notice indicates that lawmakers have been told to arrive at the Capitol early on the 6th and should use the garages with barricades and security checkpoints. More Capitol Police officers will be deployed that day, and Capitol Security Officer Paul Owen will provide emergency phone numbers to Capitol Police and other officials.

President Trump has said to the public that he will personally attend the Jan. 6 rally. Trump said voter fraud, irregularities and unconstitutional regulations regarding mail-in ballots stole his victory.

U.S. media “Daily Caller” (Daily Caller) reporter Jorge Ventura. Jorge Ventura tweeted that Trump plans to speak on the Oval Lawn in front of the White House at 9 a.m. on the 6th.
