In the statement, President Trump said, “The vice president and I fully agree — the vice president has the authority to act.”

“The New York Times story about the alleged comments made by Vice President Pence to me today is fake news. He never said those words. The vice president and I fully agree – the vice president has the authority to act.
“The November 3 election in the disputed state was corrupt, especially since it was unconstitutional because they made massive changes to election rules and regulations that were decided by local judges and politicians, not by state legislators. That means it’s illegal.
“Under the U.S. Constitution, our vice president has several options. He can decertify the results or send the results back to the states for changes and certification. He can also decertify the illegal and corrupt results and send them to the House of Representatives for a one-state, one-vote vote.”
On Tuesday, New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman reported that Pence told President Trump on local time 5 that he did not believe he had the authority to prevent Congress from certifying Biden.
