Joe State rallyists chant “Do the right thing,” Pence responds forcefully

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence speaks at a rally in Milner, Georgia, on Jan. 4.

On Monday (4), President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence attended two separate rallies in Georgia to help two Republican senators run for office. As Pence spoke, the crowd chanted “stop stealing elections” and “do the right thing,” to which Pence responded, “We’re going to have a great day in Congress.
In his ongoing effort to challenge the election results, Pence, who is also Senate president, is under intense pressure as he chairs and oversees the joint session of Congress that will count the Electoral College votes this Wednesday (Jan. 6).

In public, Pence has not spoken much about election fraud, but over the weekend, Pence’s office said he “welcomes” objections to the results from members of the House and Senate.

When Pence was campaigning for Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue in Joe on Monday, it didn’t take long for a speech to be given before the issue of election fraud was brought up.

When Pence talked about the need for Georgians to get out and vote in person, someone in the crowd responded, “We need you to do the right thing on Jan. 6.”

Moments later, Pence spoke up, trying to reassure the crowd that he supports efforts to oppose the election results.

“I know we all have our doubts about the recent election. I want to assure you that I share the concerns of millions of Americans about voting irregularities. I assure you that come Wednesday, we will have had our good day in Congress, we will have heard the opposition, we will have heard the evidence.”

At one point the rally erupted into “STOP THE STEAL!” (STOP THE STEAL!) chants.

Trump also expressed his expectations for Pence when he attended another rally that day: “…… I want Pence to stand up for us, I have to tell you. I want our great vice president, our great vice president to stand up for us. He’s a wonderful guy. Of course, I wouldn’t like him as much if he didn’t stand up for himself.”

After the crowd laughed over the joke, Trump got serious and repeatedly praised his running mate.

“Mike is a great guy, he’s a great guy and a smart guy and a guy that I like, a very likeable guy. He has a lot of sparkle.” Trump was extremely complimentary. He said he would feel genuine with Pence, who is always outspoken.

Wednesday’s joint session of Congress will be crucial in challenging the outcome of the election. Sen. Loeffler, R-Joe, said she would join the ranks of those opposed to electoral vote certification if she gets elected with flying colors.
