Korean-American Attorney General of Joe State resigns as second round of Senate election votes

As Georgia heads into the second round of Senate elections, the state’s Republican Korean attorney general, whose term was scheduled to expire on the 20th of this month, suddenly announced his resignation on Monday, explaining only that it was due to unforeseen circumstances.

Pak Byung Jin, once considered a rising Republican star, was nominated by President Trump to be the state’s federal prosecutor for the Northern District, which covers the capital city of Atlanta. He said in a statement that he was grateful to be working for Trump, former Attorney General Sessions and Attorney General Barr, and that it was his greatest honor to serve the people.

Charles Peeler, the Central District’s prosecutor, announced his resignation last month, less than a month apart. Park Bingjin did not give a detailed account of the reasons for his resignation, but the incident occurred after the media revealed that Trump had called Georgia Secretary of State Raffensberger to pressure, causing speculation.
