In response to the comments, a statement on Zhihu’s official weibo account said: “Pindoduo” is a registered user of Zhihu and their identity is true and correct. Zhihu has a strict identity authentication process and mechanism.

In response, Pinduoduo issued an apology, saying that the incident was caused by the company’s lax control over its official account.

The following is the original text of the announcement:
Pinduoduo apologised for the supplier and account control of the New Year’s Eve party
A screenshot of the online post showed that at around 8 am, an official account of Pinduoduo Zhihu suddenly posted what appeared to be a personal comment. According to our investigation, the content is released by pinduoduo’s employees on their personal mobile phones. The statement does not represent any official attitude of Pinduoduo, and the official of Pinduoduo strongly opposes the statement.
This is caused by pinduoduo’s lax control over its official account. We would like to express our sincere apologies to the public.
The details of the event are as follows:
(1) The content is prepared and published by “Li Mou”, an employee of Pinduoduo brand marketing Cooperation Company. On December 31, the employee participated in the content operation and other cooperative marketing tasks of Ptosis New Year’s Eve party, logged into the official account of Ptosis zhihu with his mobile phone and kept the login status.
(2) At 8:19 this morning, A certain Li read the news on the subway and wanted to publish his own thoughts, so he replied with the mobile phone client. After replying, Li Mou discovers to release an account to be the orgnization account that logs in to retain before, then undertake deletion processing immediately. (Less than 30 seconds elapsed between post and delete.)
(3) The content was immediately spread by netizens screenshots, and was mistaken for an official pinduoduo reply. In this regard, Pinduoduo solemnly states: Li Xx is not an employee of Pinduoduo, nor does she have any authorization. This behavior is an unauthorized use of pinduoduo’s official account to make personal remarks, which does not represent the official attitude of Pinduoduo. After the incident, Pinduoduo has suspended cooperation with the supplier to change the password recovery account, and will further investigate the responsibility of relevant personnel.
(4) Pinduoduo firmly opposes the remarks made by Li. Once again, we would like to express our sincere apology for the negative impact caused by this statement, and we will conduct a thorough investigation and rectification of the official account immediately.
