Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the COMMUNIST Party of China (CPC) central Committee, signed the CMC 2021 Order on Monday, ordering the armed forces to train and mobilize troops to implement Xi Jinping thought on strengthening the military under the guidance of his “Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”.
In particular, it was mentioned that we should “focus on war preparation”, comprehensively improve our training in actual combat and winning abilities, and ensure that we are “ready to fight at all times and ready to fight”.
A review of last year’s mobilization order found that some of the text was the same as this year’s, but did not include the words “to ensure full readiness for war, ready to fight”. Although last year’s mobilization order also stressed the need to “be able to fight and win”, it was also a precautionary approach, requiring the army to “maintain a high state of alert”.
This year’s mobilization order also calls for deepening joint combat training, accelerating the upgrading of integrated joint combat capabilities, strengthening training in science and technology, and strengthening training in new equipment and forces and integrated combat systems.
Xi also urged the armed forces to carry forward the fighting spirit of “not fearing hardship and not fearing death”, hone their will to fight, resolutely accomplish the missions and tasks assigned by the Party and the people in the new era, and greet the 100th anniversary of the founding of the COMMUNIST Party of China with outstanding achievements.
