The US President Donald Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on the 2nd to ask for votes to reverse the election results, sparking controversy and splitting the Republican Party into two factions because of Trump, who criticized the Republican Party through Twitter on the 4th for being a “surrender caucus”.
Abandoned the New Year’s party, early from Florida back to the White House Trump, trying to prevent Congress on the 6th to endorse the Electoral College voting results, and continue to fight through Twitter.
The Republican Party’s “Surrender Caucus” is willing to accept the falsified presidential election vote count, and they will be reduced to cowardly and ineffective guardians of the United States in infamy, Trump tweeted.
Twelve people, including U.S. Senator Josh Hawley, will challenge the election results, while Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senator Tom Cotton (R-TX) will not challenge.
Trump named Cotton in another tweet, saying how he could endorse vote tallies that had been confirmed to be wrong and that supporters would not forget what these Republicans had done.

According to the law, when the U.S. Congress meets in a joint session on the 6th, one senator and one representative can file a joint challenge. The Wall Street Journal reports that as long as there is a dissent, there must be a two-hour debate and a vote in each chamber; a majority of both chambers will be able to object to the election results reported by the local states.
