The Pentagon, where the U.S. Department of Defense is housed
The U.S. 2020 election has been accused of systematic fraud, but the judicial system has refused or delayed investigations into election fraud. Many Trump supporters have called on the president to initiate “martial law” to uphold the Constitution and election justice. But a few days ago, 10 former defense secretaries jointly stated that they oppose the military’s involvement in the election.
On Jan. 3, a bipartisan group of 10 former defense secretaries published an article in the Washington Post, saying the time for questioning the election results “is over” and urging the Pentagon not to play any role in Trump’s attempts to prevent Biden from entering the White House.
Among the former defense chiefs who signed the petition were Mark Esper and James Mattis, who were discarded because of disagreements with President Trump, and eight former defense chiefs from the Bush, Bush Jr.
The former defense chiefs called on current Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller to refrain from playing a role in the passing of the regime, saying that military involvement in election disputes would take the United States into a “dangerous, illegal and unconstitutional realm. The statement also threatened that any officer who tries to do so “will face serious criminal consequences.
Biden recently complained that the Defense Department is still “delaying the transition of power. Miller responded that the Pentagon has interviewed more than 400 officials, providing more than 5,000 pages of documents, and will “continue to arrange the transition.
Before that, former White House national security adviser General Flynn (Michael Flynn) and conservative organizations such as the militia group “Oath Keepers” (Oath Keepers) have publicly called on Trump to take military measures to preserve American democracy and freedom.
On January 6, at least dozens of congressmen and senators will challenge the electoral votes of several controversial swing states, so the battle for Congress is already doomed, and the Trump team has announced that it will provide more evidence to confirm the existence of large-scale electoral fraud.
