The 80-year-old Pelosi was re-elected as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The new U.S. Congress was sworn in, and Democrat Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) defeated Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) by a narrow margin on Sunday to be elected Speaker for the fourth time.

The foreign media report pointed out that in the new Congress, the Democratic and Republican parties have 222 seats to 211 seats, Pelosi received 216 votes on Sunday, narrowly defeating the Republican Congressman McCarthy who took 209 votes.

The 80-year-old Pelosi is the only female speaker in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives, and this is the fourth time she has been elected speaker in a row.
