On Sunday, Acting Defense Secretary Miller issued a statement stressing that the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier will remain in the Middle East due to threats made by Iranian leaders against President Trump and others. The statement reads as follows.

The following statement is attributed to Acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller.
“As a result of recent threats made by Iranian leaders against President Trump and other U.S. government officials, I have ordered the USS Nimitz to cease its routine redeployment. For now, the Nimitz will remain in the U.S. Central Command area of operations. No one should doubt the resolve of the United States of America.”
According to Associated Press 1, the U.S. Department of Defense previously decided to mobilize the USS Nimitz, the only aircraft carrier deployed in the Middle East, back home to reduce military deployments in the region. It is reported that the “Nimitz” aircraft carrier was scheduled to return by the end of 2020, but the return plan was postponed due to concerns about “potential threats” from Iran.
Iran issues death threats to Trump, mainland netizens laugh
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani issued a death threat to U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday (Dec. 30, 2020), according to a report by China’s Hexun.com, “In a few days, this criminal’s life will end. Mainland netizens’ comments on this news can be described as almost one-sided, with some laughing and saying, “What’s the joke for the New Year?” Others said Iran has been “saying the hardest things and receiving the most poisonous beatings!”
According to the report, Soleimani was beheaded by U.S. forces on Jan. 3, 2020, and Rouhani made the threat in a speech to Iran’s cabinet about Gen. Qassem Soleimani. An English version of the speech was posted on the Iranian president’s website.

However, the majority of mainland netizens expressed the opposite view on this naked threat from Iran.
