A heated argument broke out between freshman Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and another new Republican lawmaker and Democrats during the first session of the 117th Congress on Sunday (Jan. 3). Rep. Greene, one of the parties involved, said the cause had to do with the mask she was wearing.
According to Politico, the argument between Rep. Greene and another unnamed Republican erupted inside the Capitol after they told a Democratic staffer that “they don’t wear masks. However, Green later said the reports were false.
“I actually do have a mask,” Green tweeted Sunday, posting a photo of himself wearing a mask with the words “Trump (Trump) wins.

Greene said, “(Democratic) Speaker Pelosi changed the epidemic rules because she was obsessed with the Speaker’s gavel. No one could attack me about the gavel when Pelosi had Democrats with confirmed epidemics voting for her.”
The Democrat Greene talked about was Wisconsin Rep. Gwen Moore. Fox News reported that Moore was diagnosed with the CCA virus (coronavirus) six days ago, but showed up to the polls on Sunday without providing a negative certificate. Moore said Dr. Brian Moynihan, a U.S. Capitol physician, said she has been cleared to return to Capitol Hill.
In addition, three other members of Congress remain in quarantine, but are still voting remotely in the speaker’s race through “special arrangement channels.
In the recent past, President Trump’s team has continued its efforts to investigate the election and has called on members of Congress to join the opposition to Electoral College certification. Previously, Green announced he would join several other House members in challenging the election results on Jan. 6, and at least 12 other U.S. senators, including Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley, announced they would join the challenge.
