The Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) outbreak in China has resurfaced, and in response to the potential for a large-scale outbreak, the city of Hohhot in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has set up an “extermination team” and is planning to build 43 square-cabin hospitals on standby, ready to be put into operation.
According to Chinese news agency China News Service, Xu Hongzhi, director of the Inner Mongolia health and Wellness Commission, held a press conference in Hohhot on the prevention and control of the Wuhan pneumonia epidemic, stressing that 122 medical treatment teams with 4,077 personnel and 5,645 medical back-up personnel have been organized, as well as 1,261 specialized teams for communication, epidemic prevention, public safety and transportation, and 565 “extermination teams” that can quickly deal with the epidemic once it breaks out.
Xu Hongzhi mentioned that Inner Mongolia currently has an inventory of medical premises with 121 designated hospitals, 87 back-up hospitals, and 207 fever clinics, the autonomous regions of the proposed requisition of stadiums, exhibition halls and other large public places, the proposed construction of 43 square cabin hospitals, Xu Hongzhi believes that once the outbreak, “square cabin hospitals can be put into use. ” There are 378 local hotels and guesthouses to become isolated places, if opened, staff are able to quickly in place.
