Shenyang on the eve of New Year’s Day city-wide testing residents are prohibited from leaving their homes out of town

Following the testing of all of Beijing’s Changping, Shenyang City launched citywide coronavirus testing on New Year’s Eve, with residents in risk areas banned from leaving their homes or the city. Authorities estimate that tens of thousands of people were closely contacted.

Shenyang city authorities issued Dec. 31, 2020 Order No. 17, announcing that from now on, in nine districts within Shenyang city, full nucleic acid testing will be carried out, requiring no one to be missed. Shenyang authorities announced that this all-employee testing and screening will last 3-5 days.

According to the Chinese official media Xinhua News Agency from Shenyang on December 31, the Shenyang authorities have implemented closed control measures for people in “medium-risk” areas, where people in home isolation are forbidden to leave their homes and are not allowed to leave Shenyang. If they do need to leave Shenyang, they must have a negative nucleic acid test certificate within 72 hours.

The report quoted the Liaoning Provincial health Commission as saying on December 31 that between 00:00 and 24:00 on December 30, there were five new confirmed cases of local Newcastle Pneumonia in Liaoning Province, including two cases reported in Shenyang.

According to another Chinese network news, two new confirmed cases of indigenous New Crown pneumonia and one indigenous asymptomatic infection were reported in Shenyang between 0:00 and 24:00 on December 29. 6 confirmed cases of New Crown pneumonia were found in Shenyang between 0:00 and 24:00 on the 28th, including 2 cases of medical and nursing staff at Xiushui Clinic. As of December 29, Shenyang has 10,2001 close contacts of all types for this outbreak after flow investigation and ranking.

According to videos and reports circulating on social media platforms on Twitter, local citizens were in a panic after Shenyang authorities announced universal screening and closure, with large numbers of residents crowding the halls of testing sites waiting to be tested, and videos showing crowds pushing and fighting.
