CNBC television reported that a British variant of the New Coronavirus was found in Colorado, the first case of the variant to appear in the United States. The variant of New Coronavirus is more infectious than the original New Coronavirus.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis (Jared Polis) said in a statement on the 29th that the diagnosed person is a man in his 20s with no travel record and is currently in isolation for treatment.
The Colorado Department of health said they have notified the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the patient’s infection with a variant of the virus found in the United Kingdom. No one has had close contact with this patient.
Based on preliminary analysis of the variant strain found for the first time in the U.K., the virus may be the main cause of the recent surge of cases in the U.K. British Prime Minister Johnson said the new strain can be up to 70 percent infectious.
Earlier this month, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) speculated that the new variant may have been imported into the United States, citing air travel between the United Kingdom and the United States. Moncef Slaoui, chief scientific adviser for the New Crown Vaccine Initiative, said the Pfizer and Modena vaccines may be effective against the new strain.
According to the latest CDC projections, the number of people who will die from the new strain in the U.S. will reach 400,000 by Jan. 20 next year, when the new president takes office.
The number of deaths from neo-crown in the U.S. topped 100,000 in May and 200,000 four months later. The death toll then surpassed 300,000 in three months, and the CDC’s model predicts that it will take only one month to reach 400,000 cases.
The CDC’s latest projections mean that another 65,000 people will die from the new coronavirus in the next few weeks. These numbers are a reminder of the increasing speed at which the new coronavirus is spreading in the United States and underscore the urgency of vaccine distribution efforts.
