Stacey Abrams, the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate who allegedly led the state’s effort to eliminate absentee ballot signatures, is participating in the Biden administration’s selection of Justice Department employees through a group she founded. The news sparked criticism from conservatives.
Abrams founded Fair Fight Action, an election advocacy group, in 2014. According to the Biden transition team’s website, Jose Morales, the group’s deputy director for voter protection, is working with the team to evaluate new nominees from various justice related departments.
These departments include the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Election Commission, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, the Commission on Civil Rights, the National Council on Disability, the United States Access Board, the AbilityOne Steering Committee, the State Justice Institute, and the Legal Services Corporation.

J. Christian Adams, a former Justice Department attorney who now heads the Public Interest Legal Foundation, an election integrity watchdog group, told the Daily Signal The Daily Signal said the choice of Morales was not surprising, but that Abrams is “the leader of a Democratic conspiracy that makes every election that they don’t win look rigged.”
Abrams lost the 2018 gubernatorial election in Joe and has not conceded since.
Scott Walter, who heads the nonprofit Capital Research Center, is angry at the Biden team’s choice of Morales, saying it means the Biden administration will politicize the Justice Department.
“I wonder, did this gentleman (Morales) have anything to do with picking the staff that oversees election law? Does he believe that Abrams is the legitimate governor of Joe State?” He said.
“Everything he’s done is pure partisanship; what qualifies him to hire people for the Justice Department? This could be a sign that we’re regressing to the days of Eric Holder, the Obama-era attorney general, when the Justice Department was just part of the political machine.”
Last month, Republican U.S. Rep. Jody Hice (R-Joe) accused Abrams of leading the charge to remove the requirement to verify absentee ballot signatures in Joe.
He said, “I think Abrams has been behind the use of mail-in ballots in this election, leading to a lot of fraud. In Joe, both in-person and early voting require different forms of identification, while only absentee ballots do not require identification from the voter.”
Abrams also told the media on Dec. 14 that 1.2 million Joestowners have applied for absentee ballots for the Jan. 5 runoff for U.S. Senate in Joe.
U.S. Rep. Doug Collins (R-Fla.) accused this of a subtle form of intimidation.
He said, “If Abrams and the others are trying to get these numbers out, it’s her subtle way of intimidation, it’s her subtle way of voter suppression, of saying ‘Republicans you don’t need to get out (to vote).”
At a press conference in Wilmington, Delaware, on Dec. 22, Biden said he did not have a “clear choice” for attorney general.
However, Abrams was mentioned as a possible nominee for Biden’s attorney general.
