Pelosi: Not worried about the epidemic affecting his re-election as Speaker of the House, the Democratic Party is divided within

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters on Dec. 29 that she is not worried about her position as House speaker. But there are divisions within the Democratic Party.

Pelosi, who was asked by a reporter on the 29th about the House election for speaker this Sunday (Jan. 3), said she was not worried that the Communist virus (Wuhan pneumonia) epidemic would affect her re-election as House speaker.

Compared to two years ago, Democratic hopes for a majority in the House are slim, and some Democrats have already indicated they may not support Pelosi. Some Democrats believe that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) may be elected speaker of the House because of the outbreak of the Chinese Communist virus.

Democratic Rep. John Yarmuth recently told The Hill, “Theoretically, we have six or eight people with Neoconiosis who can’t come back, and the Republicans don’t. They’ll probably go with McCarthy.”

Jim Himes (R-S.C.) told The Hill on Dec. 26 that some Democrats may oppose Pelosi.

Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman declined to say whether they would vote for Pelosi.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Bush said, “I’m going to make sure that the voters of St. Louis, Missouri, are heard and that we get what we need, so when the time comes You’ll know the results. The votes will be counted to know who I voted for and to find the best with the voters of our community.”

Democrats lost at least 10 seats in the House of Representatives during Election Day on Nov. 3. Meanwhile, Conor Lamb, Jared Golden and Elissa Slotkin have all said they will not vote for Pelosi.

Hank Johnson (D-N.Y.) said the new pneumonia (the Chinese Communist virus) is unpredictable, several Democratic lawmakers are ill and cannot return, and the overall race is at risk.

In early December, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), a self-described socialist, said she would not support Pelosi and that “it’s time to have a different kind of leader.”
