The Ministry of Health and Welfare released information that a woman in her 30s who had been staying in South Africa was infected with Wuhan pneumonia by screening after entering from Narita Airport on the 19th, the woman was asymptomatic, but after the National Center for Infectious Disease Research compared the virus genes and confirmed that it was a variant strain of the virus prevalent in South Africa, which is the first case of South African variant virus strain infection found in Japan.
Japan has strengthened from 26 onwards to strengthen the control of South African entrants, in addition to the rejection of foreign travelers from South Africa, short-term business travelers within 7 days must return home for 14 days of independent quarantine, 29 onwards from South Africa to return to Japan must also present a negative test certificate within 72 hours, or enter the quarantine designated facilities for 14 days of mandatory quarantine.
Japan’s airport quarantine today also found six men and women who had been staying in the United Kingdom, infected with the British British variant of the virus strain, cumulatively there are now 15 cases.
