Joe State Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler, left, David Perdue, center, and President Trump‘s oldest daughter Ivanka, right, wave to the crowd at a campaign rally in Milton on Dec. 21, 2020.
Georgia’s Jan. 5 Senate runoff is less than two weeks away. More than 2 million registered voters have already cast ballots, close to the number who voted early in the state in the November election.
The latest early voting figures, released Thursday morning (24) by state officials, show that more than a quarter (26.7 percent) of registered voters in Joe have cast ballots in the two critical races.
More than 1.3 million Joestowners have cast early live ballots at polling places. These polling places have been open for a week and a half. Another more than 720,000 people have voted absentee.
The number of people who have voted so far in these two races in the state of Joe nearly matches the number of early voters in the state in the November general election.
M.V. Hood, a political science professor at the University of Georgia, told Fox News Channel on Thursday, “The turnout in the Senate runoff seems like it’s going to be pretty high. People are full of energy.”
But Hood added that with the holidays approaching, “turnout will not be at the level of the general election.”
A total of 4.9 million voters cast ballots in the November general election in the state of Joe, a record level.
In the Jan. 5 Senate runoff, Joe Republican Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler will face off against Democratic candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, respectively.
Currently, Republicans and Democrats hold 50 and 48 seats in the Senate, respectively. So the two Senate seats in Joe will determine which party will control the Senate for the next four years.
