The first direct commercial flight between Israel and Morocco took off from Tel Aviv on the 22nd, with U.S. President Donald Trump‘s son-in-law and advisor Jared Kushner (Kushner) also aboard the flight.
Kushner and Israeli National Security Adviser Meir Ben Shabbat led an official delegation on a commercial flight from Tel Aviv to Rabat, Morocco, on Israel’s state-run El Al airline on the 22nd.
Before the flight took off, Kushner said at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport, “I hope that today’s flight to Morocco will create an equal amount of momentum between Morocco and Israel.” And he stressed that the AFL and Israel have already created many business opportunities for both countries.

The flight arrived in the Moroccan capital Rabat on the same day with the word “peace” painted on its fuselage in Hebrew, Arabic and English, and was webcast live by the U.S. Embassy in Rabat.
Kushner and Bensabat’s scheduled trip includes a meeting with King Mohammed VI of Morocco and a series of agreements to be signed with Moroccan authorities there. The trip is designed to showcase the Trump administration’s diplomatic success in the Middle East.
Under U.S. mediation, Morocco became the fourth Arab country to normalize relations with Israel this year, after the United Arab Emirates (United ArabEmirates), Bahrain (Bahrain), Sudan (Sudan) has established diplomatic relations with Israel.
