President Donald Trump said Tuesday (Dec. 22) that the distribution of the Pfizer and Moderna coronavirus vaccines is “going very well,” calling it a “great miracle” for his administration.
“The distribution of both vaccines is going very well.” The president tweeted, “It’s amazing that so many people are getting vaccinated, a record number.”
The CCP virus vaccine, jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, received regulatory approval and was the first to begin distribution in the United States last Monday (14). A second vaccine, produced by Modena, was also shipped across the country late last week. Both vaccines are to be administered in two doses.
“Our country, and indeed the world, will soon see the great miracle that the Trump administration has accomplished.” Trump continued, “They said it couldn’t be done!!!”
The president’s comments come as the federal government is rolling out nearly 8 million doses of Pfizer and Modena vaccines this week. Both vaccines are part of the “Operation Fast Track” vaccine development program under Trump’s leadership.
This past weekend, an independent advisory panel to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) voted to recommend the next wave of vaccines for front-line essential service workers and people over the age of 75, a group that would include about 51 million people.
As for assistance to countries around the world, the president signed an executive order earlier this month. The president said the order ensures that “the U.S. government prioritizes the distribution of vaccines to U.S. citizens before sending them to other countries.”
Senior administration officials told Fox News earlier this month that the president will again emphasize to the American people that the priority has always been “America first.
A senior administration official predicted last week that the U.S. is on track to deliver aid to the international community “in late spring and early summer.
According to the CDC, as of Monday, more than 2.8 million doses of the CCP vaccine had been distributed in the United States, and approximately 556,208 people had received their first dose.
To date, the number of confirmed infections in the United States has surpassed 18 million. Meanwhile, more than 320,000 people have sued untreated.
