Chinese communist virus variants experts: children fear as vulnerable as adults to infection

The Chinese communist virus variant strain has appeared in the UK and its infectivity has increased by 70%, countries have launched measures to ban the entry of British flights, Taiwan has not yet detected the British variant strain of the virus into the country.

The new variant of the 2019 coronavirus disease (CCP virus) strain is spreading rapidly in the UK, scientists said on December 21, this strain of the virus differs from the original virus because children may be as susceptible to infection as adults.

Reuters reported that scientists from the UK’s Novel and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threat Advisory Group (NERVTAG), which tracks variants of the virus, briefly described their latest findings at a press conference. The scientists said the new variant strain has quickly become the main strain of the outbreak in southern England and could soon spread across the country.

Peter Horby, professor of emerging infectious diseases at Oxford University and chairman of NERVTAG, said, “We are confident that the new variant strain has a transmission advantage over other variant viruses currently circulating in the UK.”

Neil Ferguson, professor and infectious disease epidemiologist at Imperial College London, said, “There are indications that this virus is more likely to be transmitted to children.” Ferguson is also a member of NERVTAG.

Ferguson said, “We haven’t established any cause-and-effect relationships, but we can observe such through the data.” “We still have to gather more information to see what the future situation is.”

Scientists believe the new variant of COVID-19 (Chinese Communist virus) in the United Kingdom has seen a 70 percent increase in infectiousness, prompting some countries to close their borders with the U.K. and large areas of the U.K. to face strict epidemic prevention restrictions during the Christmas holiday.

Wendy Barclay, a virologist at Imperial College London and a member of NERVTAG, said one of the mutations in the new variant is a change in the way it enters human cells, which means “children may be as vulnerable to the virus as adults”.

Barclay said he fears we will see more children infected.
