People gather in front of the state Capitol to protest election fraud and demand an end to vote-theft in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Nov. 5, 2020.
As he challenged the results of the Pennsylvania election, President Trump announced on Monday morning (21) that there would be “big news” in the state.
In a tweet, Trump wrote, “Big news coming out of Pennsylvania,” but did not elaborate. He also wrote: “A lot of illegal votes were cast that cannot be explained. Rigged election!”
It was unclear whether Trump was referring to his campaign’s appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court on Sunday (20), previous disclosures by third parties or new developments. The Epoch Times reached out to the Trump campaign for comment, but has not yet received a response.
The appeal by the Trump campaign seeks to overturn the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s rulings in three cases. The three cases charge that Pennsylvania “illegally changed” its vote-by-mail law around the time of the 2020 presidential election.
The lawyers argue that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decisions violate Article II of the Constitution and the 2000 Bush v. Gore decision.
The lawsuit is seeking “all appropriate remedies,” including revoking the appointment of electors who voted for Biden and allowing the Pennsylvania General Assembly to choose their own electors.
When the Electoral College voted on Dec. 14, the Pennsylvania Republican Party allowed its own electors to vote for Trump and Vice President Mike Pence in order to set the stage for a subsequent process to challenge the results.
In October, a federal judge in Pennsylvania dismissed a lawsuit by the Trump campaign. The lawsuit sought to ban the use of mail-in ballot drop boxes throughout Pennsylvania. These drop boxes were used in the 2020 Democratic primary and were deployed in the midst of the Communist Party’s viral pandemic.
The campaign’s original lawsuit said that “on the altar of unsupervised mail-in ballots, Defendants sacrificed the sanctity of live voting” and “exponentially increased the risk” of fraudulent or otherwise ineligible ballots being cast and counted. But on Oct. 10, U.S. District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan ruled in favor of the state’s use of ballot drop boxes.
Ranjan said, “Plaintiffs may not have to prove actual voter fraud, but they must at least show that such fraud was ‘certainly imminent.’ They have failed to do so.”
Last week, lawyers for Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Mike Kelly (R) filed a new petition with the Supreme Court, saying the Pennsylvania Supreme Court was wrong to dismiss their case. The U.S. Supreme Court previously denied the team’s request for injunctive relief. They filed the petition to prevent Pennsylvania from taking further steps to certify the outcome of the 2020 election. At the time, the team’s attorney, Greg Teufel, said the case was not over because his clients were planning to file a formal petition asking the court to review a lawsuit they did not file the first time around.
