Controversy and scandal have been swirling around Mr. Biden’s son, Hunter, but it’s not just Mr. Hunt who has been in trouble lately, but His own brother, James Biden. The revelation that Mr. Hunt and Mr. James were being investigated by the F.B.I. heightened the nepotism that has long accompanied Mr. Biden.

When Joe Biden ran in 2008
Behind them stood James, his brother, and Hunter, his son
In January, the FBI raided Americore, a suburban Pennsylvania health care company that James invested in. Americore, a health care company that works with hospitals in suburbs in several states, declared bankruptcy in January. After the bankruptcy, FBI agents questioned James about his business involvement with the company. In addition to Pennsylvania, Americore has been charged with investment fraud and misappropriation of funds in Tennessee and Kentucky. In one case, James is accused of using his older brother Biden’s identity to make money.
Borrow his brother’s political capital to do business
When He ran for the Senate in 1972, Biden was praised for his “honesty” and “decency.” Biden’s campaign is almost all of his family, campaign manager is Biden’s sister Valerie (Valerie Biden), in charge of finance is smaller than Joe Biden, seven, James, he received the nickname “the hammer” at that time, because he was excited when he knocked the table, until the people agree to Joe Biden campaign donations.
When Mr. Biden was elected in 1973, at 30, as one of the nation’s youngest senators, Mr. James’s first act was to secure a large loan from a bank and co-open a nightclub on the top floor of a Pennsylvania shopping mall. Although James thinks the club will thrive on his brother’s fame. But it backfired, and less than two years later, the club was in deep financial trouble due to poor operation.
A local newspaper later reported that James and his partners had received $80,000, $60,000 and $25,000 in loans from Wilmington Farm Bank, one of which was unsecured. When James started defaulting on his payments, Joe Biden took aim at the banks, saying in an interview with his hometown newspaper: “I want to know, why do the people in charge of lending lend money?”
After financial and operational difficulties, James and his partner went to First Pennylvania, a Philadelphia bank, to try to raise money to expand their business. Despite their lack of experience in financial management and running a nightclub, James and his partner received a $500,000 loan.
But the loan was placed on the Federal Reserve board’s watch list because of potential bad loans. After the loan was made, Officials from First Bank of Pennsylvania visited Biden to discuss the loan. “The only contact I had with the bank staff was with a junior loan officer who wanted to know about my brother’s loan,” Biden told the Philadelphia Daily News in 1978. “I told him, ‘I don’t know anything about it, it’s my brother’s business.'” But the truth is that the representative who communicated with Mr. Biden, William Githens, is a senior vice president of the bank.
By early 1977, James had to give up the club because he couldn’t pay the loan. A year later, the man who took over the club from him, Salvatore Cardile, was sued by the Pennsylvania First Bank. Mr Qadir later said: “When the club closed, the banks didn’t want the senator’s brother in the papers. They need a scapegoat, and that’s me.”
Iraq’s huge housing programme
Although James has no experience in the construction industry, he was named executive Vice President of HillStone International, a New Jersey-based construction firm, in November 2010.
In June 2011, HillStone won a contract worth about $1.5 billion to build 500,000 homes in Iraq. Mr HillStone denied that the deal was made through his influence, through a South Korean company called TRAC Develpment, the vice-president’s highest-ranking official responsible for Iraq policy.
The two brothers look so much alike
James had no role in the deal, but his name was the biggest asset, said a former HillStone executive involved in the deal with the Iraqi government and TRAC, a South Korean firm. Irvin Richter, founder of HillStone, told Foxstone: “His name can only get him into the industry, but it can’t make him successful in the industry. People with important names are often easy to get into, but that doesn’t mean they’re successful. If his name is Obama, it will be easier to get into all kinds of industries.”
But that massive building program never materialized, and HillStone ultimately failed to build homes in Iraq. In a 2014 interview with Arab Business magazine, Richter said: “I thought we had a good chance of being players when the market was down, but I was wrong, so I shut the company down.”
Hunt and James were involved in the Stanford scam
On his first day at Paradigm Gloabl Advisors, which he purchased with his nephew, Second son Joe, in 2006, James, Hunter and Biden’s oldest son, Beau, showed up and fired Paradigm’s president. James then addressed the staff: “Don’t worry about investors. The whole world wants to invest in Joe Biden.” At the time, Biden was about to take office as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and announce his second presidential bid.
An executive present said Mr. James made it very clear that the purpose of the foundation was to attract wealthy foreign investors, mainly those who could not legally donate money to Mr. Biden’s campaign. He added that investors were already lining up to throw cash at the hedge fund.
And Beau Biden, who was also there, then running for Attorney general of Delaware, told his uncle: “If you say that again, you must keep it to yourself. And that has nothing to do with me.” But a spokesman for the Biden family says that never happened. He was elected Delaware’s attorney general and had no further dealings with his brother’s company.
Still, other hedge-fund executives have pointed out that Mr. Hunt and Mr. James tried to use Mr. Biden to build connections and find investments. Charles Provini, a former president of Paradigm, said That Mr. Biden’s political ties were mentioned by Hunter and James when they recruited him to the company.
The picture
Although Biden is not directly involved with Paradigm, his son and brother have been contentious issues between his two years as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and his first two years as vice president. The biggest of these is Paradigm’s links to several frauds, including the infamous Allen Standford Ponzi scheme, which exploited nepotism among the fund owners.
Stanford’s financial arm introduced Paradigm to investors and invested $2.7 million. After the Stanford fraud came to light in 2009, Mr. Hunt and Mr. James withdrew from Paradigm in 2010. The next project James joined that same year was Hillstone Iraq.
The Hunt Biden case may be serious
Hunter Biden issued a statement last week confirming that the JUSTICE Department was investigating his tax affairs. The New York Times, citing people familiar with the matter, said the U.S. Attorney’s office in Delaware has been investigating Hunter since late 2018 on charges of tax violations and money laundering. But prosecutors have not gathered enough evidence to indict Mr. Hunt, and the money laundering issue has not made substantial progress. Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are also investigating Hunter’s business and financial dealings. (about the hunt, the “pig teammates” part of the introduction, please stamp history articles ? biden promise: home, countries and belief)

The Associated Press reported that the subpoena, issued to Mr. Hunt on Dec. 8, was extensive and indicated that investigators were looking into his international business activities and finances. Legal experts said the investigation against Mr. Hunt appeared wide-ranging and could be serious. If Biden takes office, Hunter will be a weapon for political opponents.
The span of both investigations was so long that the US attorney general was replaced. Barr, now the U.S. Attorney general, took over in February 2019. The Wall Street Journal reported that Barr had been aware of a series of independent investigations involving Hunter’s business and financial transactions since at least this spring, and had worked to avoid public disclosure of those investigations during the U.S. election campaign. Trump pressured Barr to take action against Hunter before the election. But the Justice Department’s guiding principle is to advise investigators not to engage in public activities before the election lest they be seen as influencing the outcome. That’s because last time, former FBI director Comey issued a pre-election statement accusing Clinton of misconduct over her personal emails, which Clinton cited as the most direct cause of her loss.
After the Revelations, Republicans, including Senators Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) and Devin Nunes (R., Calif.), began calling for the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate Mr. Hunter’s finances.
The picture
Tom Cotton took issue publicly
Trump joined the war of opinion on Tuesday, tweeting that not only had his previous phone calls with the Ukrainian president been cleared, but he also predicted that Biden had corruption problems and called on Ukraine to let the U.S. Attorney general investigate. The U.S. Attorney general may have been aware of Hunter’s investigation.
The picture
On December 12th Mr Trump went further, retweeting a tweet saying: if Mr Barr was really hiding the hunt investigation, he should be fired today! In Trump’s eyes, Barr has become a second Comey.
The picture
Of course, one tweet was never enough for Trump to vent his anger at Barr. He went on to say, why didn’t Barr tell the truth? Biden lied during the debate and said his family had done nothing wrong. If Mr Biden is elected, Mr Hunt will walk away.
Biden’s lingering shadow
For hunter’s scandal, biden was strong in election debate to defend his son (please stamp history articles ? biden pair word son strong maintenance “hard”), but when the hunter of message has not been made public. For now, Biden still believes in and supports his son 100 percent. His transition team issued a statement: “Joe Biden is very proud of his son, and Hunter has gone through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks that have been directed at him in recent months, and this will only make him stronger.”
The two parties, of course, have very different views about the Biden family investigation. Republicans argue that “fake news” downplays Mr Hunt’s wrongdoing. Biden, in particular, is shielding his son, and if he takes office, he will certainly put pressure on prosecutors investigating Hunter. Although Hunt has denied wrongdoing, he has admitted to poor judgment.
Democrats say republicans are too obsessed with Hunter’s hard drive, photos, divorce, taxes and so on. Compared with Trump’s daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, Biden’s children will not have a full job in the White House. If Hunt is to be used as an example, should trump’s children’s business dealings and taxes over the past four years also be investigated?
Ivanka and Kushner, who earned $36 million in 2019, were recently revealed to have spent $30 million on a home in Miami and may announce her future political plans in Florida. (please stamp on the future choice, ivanka history articles ? Ivan card be forensics five hours, tweet tweet! Can Trump escort the eldest princess?)
The picture
To be fair to both Mr Biden’s son, Hunter, and Mr Biden’s brother, James, many of the doubts are not rumoured or unfounded. His family has been deeply involved in his campaign since he entered politics in 1972, and their relationship with Biden goes well beyond family. It also makes it easier for Mr Biden to engage in nepotism.

The timeline of Biden’s political journey and his family’s business
And for nearly half a century, Biden has never shied away from his family’s involvement in his politics. In 2008, Citizens & Ethics in Washington ranked Biden among the top five senators who paid their relatives the most money.
The hunter-James case is still under investigation and is expected to continue after Biden takes office. Perhaps This time Mr Trump has it right: Mr Biden will be dogged by scandal for years to come.
