The electoral College of all 50 U.S. states closed its voting today, officially confirming Biden with 306 votes to Trump‘s 232.

Biden won all of the electoral votes in the six key states where Trump filed the suit, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada.
Each elector signs six ballots, and one result is presented to the President of the Senate, which certifies it on January 6th. Two copies of the election results are sent to the Secretary of State’s office; Two copies to the National Archives; There is also a copy of the local judge.
The electors of New York, do you look familiar? ?
Yes, that’s her! Today is the day to avenge.
Next, all of the states’ electoral votes need to arrive in Washington on December 23, and Congress will convene a joint session to certify the results on January 6.
No one in the Electoral College has defected
After the election, Trump met with lawmakers from key states like Pennsylvania at the White House. Although the White House said it was a regular meeting, Trump’s intention was clear: defection. This means that instead of voting according to the results of the state elections, the electors will choose the president as they wish.
Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., retweeted a tweet that read: “Remind Republican state legislators, you have the final say in electors, so please fulfill your constitutional duty.” But in Pennsylvania, the idea of electors defecting was immediately rejected by Pennsylvania Republicans.

Pennsylvania’s Electoral College
Under the U.S. Constitution, state legislatures make the electoral College, which has the same number of members as their own, and they vote for the president of the United States. Electors cannot be incumbents, but usually choose party leaders or loyal supporters.
The Electoral College will vote based on the outcome of the election, for example, if Biden wins Pennsylvania, all 20 electoral votes should go to Biden. States, in order to avoid faithless electors, usually have legislative constraints. For example, electors swear before voting that they will cast their votes for the winner of their state; Ballot papers; If the ballot paper is broken, it will be invalid; Electors who break faith will be punished and so on. The United States Supreme Court unanimously upheld those laws in Chiafalo v. Washington.
Faithless Elector is unusual in U.S. history. Out of 23,507 electoral votes, only 90 Faithless electors did not vote for their party’s presidential candidate, and 63 of those Faithless elector died in 1972. In addition, 75 faithless electors did not vote for their party’s vice presidential candidate.
Thirty-two states and the District of Columbia now have laws designed to discourage “faithless electors,” and until 2016 no state had actually punished or removed electors for voting. But one big thing happened in 2016, with 10 faithless electors.
Three Democratic electors voted for Sanders, one for John Kasich, three for Colin Powell and one for Faith Spotted Eagle, an Indian tribal leader. The Democrats have also defected for odd reasons, hoping to derail Mr Trump by encouraging Republican electors who did not support him to do so. But they were wrong. Only two Republican electors broke their faith and voted for Mr Kasich and Ron Paul. Mr Trump and Mrs Clinton got 306-232 votes, but after a swing through the Electoral College, it turned out to be 304-227, with seven other votes going to the others.
Three electors in Washington state who had voted for Powell were fined $1,000 each. But they disagreed and took the case to the Supreme Court. On July 6, the Supreme Court ruled that presidential electors should follow the wishes of state voters by voting for the candidate they support. Local state jurisdictions have the power to punish “faithless electors”.
Does Trump count on “alternative electors”?
White House officials said Trump had been calling Allies from the Oval Office this afternoon and keeping an eye on the electoral vote. Mr. Trump has also been watching television from time to time in a private dining room next to the Oval Office, complaining that the mainstream media is using today’s vote as an “Election Day” mass campaign and keeping quiet about his legal case.
So immediately after Biden confirmed the 270 electoral votes, Trump sent a tweet announcing the resignation of ATTORNEY General Barr.

Barr’s resignation letter
News of Barr’s resignation had been circulating for some time, after he said publicly after the election that there had been no large-scale fraud, leaving him and Trump with an already strained relationship that could not be repaired. Today, Trump is clearly timed to grab headlines with Biden. The effect is still remarkable.
Now that Mr Trump refuses to concede, what options does he have next? Today Trump sent out his top immigration adviser, and his most powerful adviser in four years, Stephen Miller, on television to defend his boss.
Mr Miller proposes “alternate electors” chosen by The Republicans to vote in key states where elections are contested. The Trump team will present their votes to Congress. Mr Miller said Mr Trump still had plenty of time to correct the fraudulent election results, given the constitutional date for the new president to take office on January 20.
Legal experts immediately testified that there were no “alternative electors” other than the current bipartisan electoral College. Mr. Trump’s own electors do not have the legal status to vote. Laurence Tribe, a professor at Harvard University who specializes in the U.S. Constitution, warned that such an approach would be dangerous and incite violence. For example, in Michigan today, the state House and Legislature temporarily closed during the electoral College vote to ensure the safety of voters.

The next key point is when the U.S. Congress certifies the results of the January 6 election, and Republicans can challenge the count. If there are objections in both the House and Senate, both chambers will meet for debate. House Democrats opposed the electoral College vote count in 2016, but did not win support in the Senate. With a divided Congress, the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives is unlikely to agree to overturn the election this year.
Biden addressed the nation on television
In a prime-time television address in the evening after the electoral College results were confirmed, Biden urged the nation to turn the page. We must unite and heal. Biden said democracy prevailed in the battle for America’s soul, the American people voted, their faith in the nation’s institutions did not waver, and the integrity of the U.S. election was preserved.

Always avoid talking about positive trump lawsuits biden, launched after the election, to the endless lawsuits trump “strongest speech” : “again and again, trump’s lawyer in the state officials, state and federal courts, state legislators in the proceedings, the final until the Supreme Court, but in the United States more than 80 judges, tell them in every action, there is no evidence that the election result is controversial.”
“There have been recounts in some states. Three counts in Georgia did not change the final result, and a recount in Wisconsin widened the margin. In Michigan we won by 14 times the margin that Trump won four years ago. Our lead in Pennsylvania is twice as big as Trump’s four years ago. But that has not stopped the baseless accusations about the results.”
“Seventeen state attorneys general, 126 Republicans, supported Texas’s challenge to the results and asked the Supreme Court to overturn the results in key states. One state alone wants to overturn the vote of more than 200 million Americans. This position is so extreme as never before. Thankfully, the Supreme Court immediately blocked such a move. “It sends a clear message to Trump that there will be no place for anyone who insults American democracy in an unprecedented way.”
Biden also added salt to Trump’s wounds: Your own top cybersecurity official in charge of election security has said this is the safest election in U.S. history.

A key purpose of Mr. Biden’s speech was to pressure Republican lawmakers, who have been reluctant to acknowledge Mr. Biden’s victory now that the electoral College results are in. Indeed, republican leaders began to speak out today, including One of Mr. Trump’s closest Republican Allies, Lindsey Graham, who had a friendly 10-minute phone call with Mr. Biden at a time when Mr. Trump’s path to re-election is already very, very narrow.
The Republican senators include John Thune of South Dakota, Roy Blunt of Missouri, John Barrasso of Wyoming and Chuck Grassley of Iowa. And with several members of Senate Leader Mitch McConnell’s leadership team acknowledging the election result, a domino effect is already under way. The election has come to a close, with the Supreme Court ruling and the Electoral College voting complete. The congressional ratification, on January 6th, was a symbolic ceremony.

Some critics say the Republican politicians who support Mr. Trump have chosen self-interest over American democracy. But is it not part of American democracy that they have chosen to support Mr Trump? Aren’t they also worried about losing voters’ support? It’s not so much that American democracy has been defended as that it has gone wrong. ‘What if you can’t heal a country that is so divided?’ Mr. Biden was asked in a recent interview. Biden replied: “We are in real trouble.”
