Modena receives FDA approval 6 million doses to be distributed immediately

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today approved an emergency use authorization for Moderna Inc. vaccine. This is the second COVID-19 vaccine approved by the U.S., and distribution of nearly 6 million doses is expected to begin soon.

President Donald Trump praised the vaccine’s authorization on Twitter, tweeting, “Congratulations, Moderna vaccine is now available.

The FDA’s decision means that the Modena vaccine has been authorized by regulatory authorities for the first time in the world.

The first U.S. approved vaccine for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a vaccine developed by U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer in collaboration with German biotech company BioNTech.

Thousands of health care workers in the United States have been vaccinated with Pfizer this week, and the Modena vaccination program is expected to begin in the next few days.

So far, more than 310,000 people have died from the disease in the United States.
