Vice President and Mrs. Pence today publicly administered the COVID-19 vaccine on live television to boost the nation’s confidence in the vaccine. President Trump also announced today on Twitter that the federal government has approved a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Modena.
After receiving the vaccine at the White House, Mike Pence said, “Building confidence in the vaccine is why we’re gathered here this morning.”
He added playfully, “I don’t feel a thing.”
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last week had approved the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine developed by U.S. drugmaker Pfizer in collaboration with German biotech company BioNTech.
Trump tweeted today, writing, “Moderna (Moderna) vaccine received overwhelming approval and will begin distribution immediately.”
The vaccine developed by Moderna was just yesterday recommended for emergency approval for use in the United States by a group of expert panels. The FDA is expected to issue formal approval today.
