Of all the stories I heard during my seven years in prison, the most shocking was the murder of a body trafficker. This is the story of a man who killed his daughter to sell her body and a woman who killed herself, but the cause of this tragedy is only due to an absurd and deep-rooted superstition in northern Shaanxi — ghost marriage. The story is a north Shaanxi inmates told to everyone. He said that in those years, in the yulin prison in northern Shaanxi province, the story stretched into many versions. All versions, of course, have their origins in the criminal conviction of a prisoner with a congenital mental disorder.

In 2004, the inmate served his first sentence in Yulin, northern Shaanxi province, in a cell under the name of Xin Decai. In that year, Xin Decai, his father-in-law and his wife jointly created a huge case of body trafficking, and was sentenced to three years in prison for intentional homicide.
The leniency of the sentence was explained in the judgment: First, because Hinde was mentally handicapped, he was deemed to be “a person with limited capacity”; Secondly, Xin Decai played a secondary role in the case and was identified as an accomplice by the court.
Sindecai’s involvement in the murder of a corpse was well described in the widely circulated verdict, which was more than a dozen pages long. Of course, there is no lack of labor camp, the prisoners to Xin Decai’s coercive interrogation.
