President Donald Trump lashed out at Christopher C. Krebs, the former director of CISA at the Department of Homeland Security, calling his practice of lying during senate hearings “highly deplorable.”
“Krebs has been heavily criticized for giving false testimony at a Senate hearing on election fraud in 2020. Massive fraud occurred on election machines, people voting out of state, illegal votes, dead votes, no signatures, etc!” “President Trump said in a tweet.
On November 17, Trump fired Christopher Krebs, the top U.S. election security official and director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
Before he was fired, Mr Krebs’s CISA unit and several others caused a stir by declaring the election campaign safe. CISA also runs a blog called “Rumor Control,” which claims that many of the election fraud allegations supported by Trump officials are false.
Krebs testified Wednesday at a hearing of the U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee investigating the election, saying the election was the safest in history and that allegations of fraud were unfounded.
At the same hearing, multiple witnesses said the problem of electoral fraud was so serious that the mail-in ballot policy for the 2020 presidential election created too many problems that should be addressed.
Kenneth W. Starr, a former circuit court judge, confirmed that there had been a clear violation of election laws in Pennsylvania, where changes made by the state government before the Nov. 3 election were illegal.
Jessie R.Innall, a partner at Harvey&Binnall (PLLC), said that by comparing actual voter lists and other information, her team found that more than 42,000 people in Nevada had voted more than twice each.
And Representative Francis X. Ryan of Pennsylvania testified that in the data files received Nov. 4, the Pennsylvania Open Data Site reported more than 3.1 million mail-order ballots. But on November 2nd the information provided was that only 2.7m mail-in ballots had been provided, and that “a difference of 400,000 votes has not yet been explained”.
On the same day, Trump slammed Krebs for making false statements and praised the election Commission’s work.
“The Senate hearing on election fraud, Senator RON Johnson did a great job. The results of the Nevada election must be annulled on the basis of testimony!” “Trump said.
Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said the hearings would help in the investigation of the election, noting that vote-rigging, state irregularities and voting machine fraud related to the election must be thoroughly investigated and resolved.
