The “entry fee” was found on yellow paper with triad words and vows
During the operation, detectives arrested six men and one woman, aged between 37 and 58, on charges of attending a triad society meeting. Ms Chung said some of the people arrested had triad backgrounds. Two of them were ex-diners, including Me and Ziteng, the former restaurants of Wo Sheng Wo, and a 41-year-old man who was a wealthy businessman. Agents found the “entrance fee” on the person they arrested, as well as yellow paper with triad words and vows.
Arrested 7 men and women are issued with fixed penalty notices for violating the restriction order
Mr Chung said the triad initiation ceremony had been simplified, but traditions such as triad vows and yellow paper were still maintained and detectives would conduct further investigations into the evidence seized. The triad oath seized by detectives reads: “The three are not the same father and mother, but they are brothers, and they are brothers”.
The Police will also issue fixed penalty notices to all arrested persons for alleged breaches of Section 599G of the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Group Gatherings) Ordinance. Mr Chung said the police had always been committed to combating triad activities and had adopted a zero-tolerance policy. They would also continue to carry out anti-triad operations to prevent crime and bring offenders to justice.
