On December 12, three asymptomatic infections with the CCP virus were found in Turpan, Xinjiang, with the source of infection unknown. Authorities are now beginning a rigorous search of the infected persons’ workplaces and residential neighborhoods. Local netizens expressed their panic over the sudden outbreak: Nucleic acid tests are conducted once every 3 to 7 days in the Xinjiang region, how come there are still new cases?
According to official media reports, on December 12, a 32-year-old man was found positive and diagnosed as asymptomatic for the infection during regular nucleic acid testing in the Gaochang District of Tulufan City, Xinjiang, where he is an employee of a trading company in the Tulufan Economic Development Zone. During the close contact screening, his wife (28) and mother (63) were also found positive for nucleic acid. At present, the authorities are implementing strict control and environmental disinfection of the infected companies and residential areas.
According to local netizens, local residents are tested for nucleic acid once every five to seven days, while those who run restaurants are tested once every three days. Some netizens questioned the local epidemic prevention method: “Xinjiang is so strict control why more and more it? This control method is not a bit problematic ah?”
The video posted by the netizens shows that many testing points have been set up in the Gaochang District of Turpan City, where full nucleic acid testing of residents has begun. It’s already cold in Xinjiang and everyone is wearing down jackets and waiting in long lines to get their nucleic acid tests.
