The Arizona Republic said Friday (Dec. 11) that it appealed the election integrity lawsuit to the U.S. Supreme Court. The lawsuit was dismissed by the state’s Supreme Court a few days ago.
“Our case will be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which we are filing, and hopefully our appeal will be accepted soon,” said Kelli Ward, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, in a video posted Friday on Twitter.
Ward noted that the case is the third election-related lawsuit filed with the Supreme Court, along with Pennsylvania Rep. Mike Kelly’s (R) bid to overturn Pennsylvania’s election results and lawsuits filed by Texas against Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin and Michigan.
Ward explained, “To us, not having the right process is a violation of the Constitution, and now is the time when we can file a lawsuit, take depositions and hold hearings on the whole issue.” She added that the Arizona judge denied their lawsuit and “set unrealistic deadlines.”
Ward said that last week, the Arizona Supreme Court gave them three days to “examine up to 3 million ballots, which we all know is not possible.” She added, “For the first time in over 100 years, we have to file a challenge to an election the day after the election is certified.” “So we only have eight days to do all the work we need to do, and everyone knows that in a case as important as choosing the next president, there’s not enough time to complete the work. So this matter is going to be appealed to the Supreme Court.”
In the video, Ward refuted media claims that Republicans and President Trump (Trump) did not provide evidence (of election fraud).
“We found the evidence, but then, we didn’t have enough time to do more depositions because they locked it up,” she said. “This is lying with false information, and the people of Arizona have seen through it. The American people as a whole have seen through it as well.”
On Tuesday (Dec. 8), the Arizona Supreme Court ruled in favor of the lower court’s decision that there was no fraud or irregularities that could overturn the election results.
