News that veteran Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell has been having an affair with a female Chinese spy quickly ignited social media commentary in the United States on Tuesday (Dec. 8).
According to Axios, Chinese Communist Party agent Christine Fang, who maintains sexual relationships with a number of American politicians, has made Swalwell a key “cultivation target.
Swalwell, who has been a vocal opponent of President Trump, has been jumping up and down in the Russiagate case, has repeatedly expressed his conviction that President Trump is a “Russian spy,” and has served on both the House Intelligence and Judiciary committees responsible for Trump’s impeachment.
On Tuesday, Fox News host Tucker Carlson said on his show that U.S. intelligence agencies believe there was a sexual relationship between Sowell and Chinese spy Fang Fang.
When Carlson’s team contacted Swalwell’s office to find out more about Swalwell’s relationship with Fang Fang, Swalwell’s office refused to answer whether the two men had a sexual relationship, saying instead that it could be a matter of national security and needed to be kept confidential.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy tweeted, “Congressman Swalwell has long been unqualified to serve on the Intelligence Committee. He has been peddling disinformation about Russia for years for political gain. Now, according to reports, we’ve discovered that he’s been gathering information for Chinese spies. Swalwell is a negative asset to national security.”
White House Director of Community Media Relations Dan Scavino wrote, “Swalwell is a member of the House Intelligence Committee and is privy to some of America’s most closely guarded secrets. He is 100% compromised (to the CCP) and has done his best to discredit anyone who works for Trump and has lied, lied, lied for the past 4 years because the CCP bought him!”
Trump’s son, Trump Jr. posted, “Congressman Swalwell who spent years saying I was a Russian agent was sleeping with a Chinese spy at the time.”
“You can’t make this stuff up (reports), how does this compromised (to the CCP) man, idiot continue to serve on the Intelligence Committee?”
Swalwell himself told the media on Tuesday that President Trump’s team was behind the revelations, but still refused to answer whether he was sleeping with a Chinese spy.
According to Axios, one of Fang’s most diligent targets was Sowell, who began dating while Sowell was still a city councilman in Dublin, California, in order to set the long line for the big fish.
Swalwell has since risen quickly to become a rising star in politics, and in January 2015 he (Swalwell) was appointed to the House Intelligence Committee and is the lead Democrat on the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) oversight subcommittee.
The U.S. intelligence community said Fang helped Swalwell raise money for his campaign and also recommended at least one intern to Swalwell’s Washington, D.C., office, where the two “interacted” on several occasions over several years, posing for photos together.
In or around 2015, U.S. intelligence notified Swalwell of Fang’s suspicious activities, and Swalwell cut off all contact with Fang, but he remained on the Intelligence Committee and Fang was able to return to the United States before the FBI captured him.
