Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen inspects an anti-aircraft missile company in an area of Taiwan on Friday (Sept. 11). In response to frequent and sustained incursions by Chinese military aircraft into Taiwan’s territory over the past two days, Tsai said, “The sovereignty of our land, we won’t give an inch.”
Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said Thursday (Sept. 10) that it has detected a number of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) fighter jets, including the Su-30, J-10 and Y-8, breaking into Taiwan’s southwest air defense identification zone over the past two days. The Taiwan Air Force dispatched its air force to closely monitor and respond, broadcasting at least 24 times in two days to drive them away.
On Friday, Tsai Ing-wen inspected the missile launcher drill, saying it was a “small unit, big task” of the steel brigade. She said the national army has countless other such brigades, some of which hold their posts day and night to ensure 24-hour national security.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Tsai Ing-wen also said that in the airspace southwest of Taiwan, there were communist aircraft intruding and harassing. In response to this, all levels of the national military forces are on alert 24 hours a day, with strict monitoring and response throughout. In a statement to the press, the U.S. government said it will continue its efforts to protect the nation’s natural resources, and will continue to work with the U.S. government to ensure the safety of its citizens.
