Bahrain Says Peace Deal with Israel Boosts Regional Security and Stability

Bahrain’s decision to establish relations with Israel is in the region’s interest for “security, stability and prosperity,” former Foreign Minister and King’s Advisor Khalid al-Khalifa said today.

According to AFP, Khalid tweeted, “This sends a positive and encouraging message to the Israeli people that justice and comprehensiveness are the best path to peace for the Palestinians.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced earlier today that Israel has reached a “peace agreement” with Bahrain, becoming the second Arab country in just a few weeks to cease hostile relations with Israel.

Trump tweeted, “Another historic breakthrough reached today! Our two great allies, Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain, agreed to a peace agreement, the 2nd Arab country to nod its head and live in peace with Israel in 30 days!”

Bahrain has agreed to formally sign a peace agreement with Israel in a ceremony at the White House on the 15th; the United Arab Emirates will also sign the peace agreement agreed to in mid-August at the White House.

Until now, Israel has reached similar peace agreements with two Arab countries, Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994.
