The Communist Party’s Air Force’s Bombardment 6 propaganda video was criticized for splicing in clips from Hollywood movies.

China’s Air Force (CAF) propaganda video has sparked criticism on social media as users question why China, the world’s second largest military power, is splicing its own propaganda material with clips from Hollywood blockbusters such as “Transformers” and “Jedi Mission”.

According to AFP, the film, which was produced by the “Propaganda and Culture Center of the Political Work Department of the PLA Air Force,” showcases the Chinese Air Force’s medium- and long-range H-6 bombers and has accumulated 4.72 million views on Weibo.

The boastful film shows the Chinese Air Force soaring high above an island base and returning from a successful military raid. The base bears a striking resemblance to the U.S. facilities in Diego Garcia and Guam.

However, users of the Chinese social networking site quickly noticed some obvious plot holes in the film. The sequential footage of explosive missiles in the film was apparently taken from three Hollywood movies.

These were Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, The Rock, and The Hurt Locker.

Twitter was full of criticism for the lack of originality. One user said, “Our dream of a strong nation turned out to be a patchwork of edited clips from American movies.

Another user wrote: “Why do we need to use American Hollywood movie clips to promote domestic military aircraft?” Other users questioned, “This is our propaganda film, why not use our own images?”
