Taiwan’s government has said that it does not plan to import Chinese-made new coronavirus vaccines.
According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, the commander of Taiwan’s Epidemic Command Center and Minister of Health and Welfare Chen Shizhong told the outside world on September 27 that Taiwan has already stipulated that it will not import blood preparations or vaccines from China.
The World Journal reported that Chen also said recently that he would not choose vaccines made in China, and that Taiwan had signed a contract with the Global Access to Vaccines for Coronary Pneumonia (COVAX) on September 18 to purchase vaccines, but the exact amount and amount of the contract are confidential for now.
In response to a question from a member of the Legislative Yuan, Chen Shi-Zhong explained that there are many problems with vaccines from China, and for safety reasons, he does not plan to purchase vaccines from China.
On the other hand, according to the BBC, the governor of Brazil’s most populous state, São Paulo, João Doria, announced that Chinese-made vaccines are expected to be used in Brazil starting in December; Brazil has already purchased 5 million doses of vaccines from Beijing Kexing Holding Biotechnology Co. Doria believes the vaccines are safe and are already in phase III trials.
