Former Hong Kong Legislator Joseph Chi-Feng Hsu Goes Into Exile Overseas, Life Savings Frozen

Former Hong Kong legislator Xu Zhifeng, who is in the United Kingdom, revealed that his bank accounts with his family in Hong Kong have been frozen, involving at least five accounts, amounting to millions of Hong Kong dollars, his life savings, but the bank did not disclose any reason for the freeze.

After a recent visit to Denmark with his parents, wife and two young children, Xu Zhifeng published an open letter announcing his exile overseas and his resignation from the Hong Kong Democratic Party.

He has been involved in several lawsuits before he left Hong Kong because of his participation in the “anti-sending to China” campaign, and when he appeared in court on November 26 for the “Light and Restore Tuen Mun Park” case, he was allowed by the judge to notify the court and the police 72 hours before traveling.

According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency on December 5, the Security Bureau of Hong Kong told Hong Kong media on December 4 that the relevant departments will follow up the case according to the actual situation in accordance with the law and arrest the suspect who absconded.

Xu Zhifeng flew from Denmark to London in the evening of December 4. He was asked by a Hong Kong Now reporter at the airport whether he had absconded on bail under the guise of an overseas visit, but he did not respond to the question. As for the whereabouts of his family, he did not want to talk about it.
