President Trump, who has mild symptoms of a new coronavirus infection, will be working and receiving treatment at the Special Presidential Office at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the coming days. In a brief statement Friday night, White House presidential physician Sean Conley said that President Trump is “in good condition” and has been taking Raltegravir. This is an experimental drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for emergency use in hospitalized patients with new coronavirus infections.
Dr. Conley also said that Trump does not currently require oxygen therapy. Trump himself also tweeted Friday night that he thought everything was fine and thanked everyone who was concerned about him. Earlier Friday, Trump did not speak to reporters as he walked alone from the White House to the Marine One helicopter on the tarmac to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, but gave a thumbs-up.
Vice President Pence, 61, and House Speaker Pelosi, 80, have both tested negative for the new coronavirus. Pence will work from the vice president’s residence, a few miles from the White House. Democratic presidential and vice presidential candidates Biden and Harris have also tested negative.
Several prominent Republicans have now tested negative for the new coronavirus on Friday, including federal senators Mike Lee and Tom Tillis of Judea and North Carolina, former White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway, and Trump’s presidential campaign manager Bill Sturgeon, among others. In addition, First Lady Melania experienced mild symptoms after testing positive for the new coronavirus. Ms. Hope Hicks, one of President Trump’s closest working aides, was first diagnosed with the neocoronavirus.
