Pompeo: PLA’s 60,000 troops on China-India border threaten security of India, Australia, Japan

In an interview with Fox News, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the PLA has deployed 60,000 troops along the northern border of the “Line of Actual Control” (LOC) between China and India, describing India, Australia, and Japan as threatened by China.

Pompeo argued that India will inevitably need the United States as an ally to confront China, so the United States and India should build closer ties to enhance their confrontational capabilities. He also again criticized China’s handling of the new coronary pneumonia, accusing China of stealing intellectual property rights. Pompeo also said, “The world has woken up and the winds are beginning to change. The United States, under President Trump’s leadership, has begun to build alliances to fight back.”

In addition, following a trip to Tokyo last Tuesday to hold a “Quadrilateral Security Dialogue” with the foreign ministers of Japan, Australia and India, Pompeo and Defense Secretary Esper will make a brief visit to New Delhi, India, for their annual talks with Indian officials.
