Texas senior Republican Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) on Sunday (May 30) condemned the Chinese Communist Party for hiding the virus outbreak over and over again, and that the United States should impose economic penalties on the Communist Party to take the supply chain out of China.
In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” McCaul said China’s efforts to destroy evidence and hide early information about the coronavirus (CCP) will make it difficult for U.S. and international investigators to get the full story.
He also said the pandemic was “probably” triggered by an accident at China’s virus laboratory (Wuhan Virus Institute) and was “the worst cover-up [in human history], resulting in 3.5 million deaths and economic devastation worldwide.
“Time and time again, we see the Chinese Communist cover-up”
“Information just declassified shows that three (Chinese) researchers were actually hospitalized in November 2019 with flu symptoms consistent with COVID. This (information) was suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party.” He said.
“Since then, they (the Chinese Communist Party) have secretly detained doctors who reported a SARS-like virus, which (such viruses) must be reported within 24 hours according to international health regulations. They have gone (to the scene) and destroyed laboratory samples, not acknowledging the existence of human-to-human transmission and cooperating with the (World Health Organization) not to report to the world the existence of an endemic epidemic, now (that) is going global.” He said.
McCall said, “I do think it (the virus) could have come out of the lab, most likely by accident.”
“Time and time again, we see this cover-up in China (the Chinese Communist Party).” He said.
Speaking on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” program Sunday morning, Bo Ming, deputy national security adviser during the Trump administration, said Chinese scientists “have been systematically silenced” by the (Communist) government to discuss the origins of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I think it’s more of a systemic flaw.” Booming said.
McCall: Punish the CCP economically
McCall believes the punishment (for the CCP) should be economic. We need to take the supply chain out of the region (mainland China), namely the medical supply chain, the rare earth minerals supply chain …… advanced semiconductor chips (supply chain) that are the brains of everything from iPhones to goods like the F-35 (fighter jets),” he said. “
“If we pull those supply chains out of China, it will hit them (the Chinese Communist Party) economically and be very punitive to them in nature.” He said.
McCaul also said he supports the Biden administration’s call for the U.S. intelligence community to investigate the origins of the virus and submit a report within 90 days. President Biden issued a statement last week saying the U.S. and allies would urge China (the Chinese Communist Party) to provide a clear explanation of what happened in Wuhan.
In a statement, Biden said, “The United States will also continue to work with like-minded partners around the world to urge China (the Chinese Communist Party) to engage in a full, transparent, evidence-based international investigation and provide access to all relevant data and evidence.”
