The European Union recently stated that they will impose tariffs of up to 48% on aluminum extrusions imported from China. They are still investigating whether Chinese producers are selling these products at too low a price.
The tariffs will be between 30.4% and 48% and will take effect on Wednesday, the Official Journal of the European Union said on Tuesday. The tariffs are temporary, meaning they apply until the investigation’s expected completion next April, when the EU could impose five years of tariffs, the communiqué added.
The European Commission launched an anti-dumping investigation in February against Chinese aluminum extrusions, which are widely used in the transportation, construction, electronics and other industries. The China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association issued a statement at the time denying the allegations.
