In the past, the Chinese media has started to spin rumors that the Chinese government’s “People’s Daily” is not effective, making many Chinese netizens call out “this is embarrassing”.
According to media reports, Zhong Nanshan, an expert from the Chinese Health Care Commission, revealed at the “Baiyunshan Banlangen Macau Transformation Symposium” that Banlangen, a component of Baiyunshan’s prescription, has been found to be effective against viruses in a series of in vitro studies, but that such studies did not include in vivo experiments and the data are yet to be verified.
This has attracted the attention of many Chinese media, who have even posted rumors from the People’s Daily, which, in turn, have hit Zhong Nanshan in the face, saying “Banlangen is ineffective”.
The Chinese netizens, after analyzing the rumor, instead questioned it, making Zhong Nanshan, who was awarded the highest honor in the Chinese Communist Party, the “Order of the Republic”, look embarrassed.
The Chinese government issued a clarification statement after Banlangen became popular again, stressing that the judgment of Zhong’s team was only the result of an in vitro screening study of the antiviral, and that subsequent work would have to be carried out, and that there was “a certain degree of uncertainty”.
