Iran’s semi-official student news agency (ISNA) reports that at least nine people were injured in an explosion today at a factory producing explosive equipment in the central province of Isfahan.
Mansour Shisheforoush, head of Isfahan’s crisis management agency, said the explosion occurred at 4 a.m. at Sepahan NargostarChemical Industries and that “the cause is unknown and is still under investigation. “
Nine factory workers were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, Hisherfolush said.
Several investigation teams are currently on the scene to determine the cause of the explosion, he said.
The factory is located about 45 kilometers northwest of the city of Isfahan.
According to the company’s website, it produces “explosive equipment for industrial and commercial use” and was founded in 1941.
