Hacker rampage! Air India 4.5 million passengers’ personal data stolen

In recent months, hackers have been rampant, following the largest U.S. pipeline operator Colonial Pipeline, insurance company CNA Financial Corporation rumored to have been attacked by hacker groups, India also had a hacking incident.

Foreign media reports, Air India official statement, the company’s passenger service system provider SITA in February this year suffered a cyber attack, resulting in 4.5 million passengers’ personal data leakage, including passengers of national airlines around the world.

The report said that personal data registered between August 11, 2011 and February 3, 2021, including names, birthdays, passports, booking, credit card and contact information, have been compromised. Air India stressed that its data processing unit continues to take remedial measures and remind consumers to change their passwords to ensure data security.
