The Chinese government of Guangzhou City held a press conference on the evening of the 21st to announce that the suspected positive case of New Guan Pneumonia detected in Liwan District of Guangzhou City on the 20th was a confirmed local case.

This is following the recent outbreak of local outbreaks in China’s Anhui and Liaoning provinces, where the source of infection has not been found so far, and then there are new confirmed cases in China, causing public concern. China reported 25 new asymptomatic infections on the 20th, with one case each in Liaoning and Anhui, and the rest being imported cases from abroad.

The 75-year-old woman, surnamed Guo, walked to the Liwan District Central Hospital for medical treatment because she was not feeling well. After the diagnosis was confirmed on the 21st, the patient was transferred to Guangzhou Eighth People’s Hospital for isolation treatment. The local authorities immediately started the epidemic disposal work mechanism, carried out a comprehensive epidemiological investigation, and announced the trajectories of hospitals, markets and many tea restaurants she had visited, closed 8 key activity areas, and called on the public who had visited the place to be tested as soon as possible.

Guangzhou authorities have opened seven nucleic acid testing sites in Liwan District, directing people living and working in the Jinlong community on Longjin Street and nearby to be tested, and asking them to stay away from going out and gathering in groups until the nucleic acid tests are completed. According to reports, 60,000 people have lined up for testing, and 26,506 samples have been collected from people in key areas, of which 2,903 have been tested negative; of the 16 people she has been in close contact with, seven have been tested negative.
