The Breitbart News reported on May 20 that Dr. Anthony Fauci claimed this week that fully vaccinated Americans “almost certainly” need to receive a booster shot of the C.C.V. vaccine within a year of their initial vaccination.
Dr. Fauci said this week that “the efficacy of the vaccine lasts for at least six months, and probably longer. But I think a booster shot will almost certainly be needed sometime after the initial vaccination, a year or so after the initial vaccination.”
This follows Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, who also said last month that a third shot may be needed in the near future. Albert Bourla said, “Every year, you need to go get a flu shot, and the same thing will happen with coronavirus. A year from now, you will have to go for the annual vaccine for coronavirus to get protection.”
Dr. Fauci expressed skepticism about the need to make booster shots specifically for the virus variants, Dr. Fauci believes, “It’s likely that you can always get a booster for the vaccine and eventually get a good enough response that you don’t have to worry about the virus variants.”
