The National Archives reported on May 20 that Wisconsin became the next state to audit the 2020 elections when Newsmax reporter Emerald Robinson tweeted on Saturday, “Wisconsin mandates an audit of the 2020 elections!”
According to Newsmax, nearly three months ago Michigan’s Joint Legislative Audit Committee (JLAC) voted to conduct the audit, which will be conducted by a nonpartisan body.
State Sen. Robert Cowles (D-Wisconsin), co-chair of the audit committee, said Wisconsin conducted recounts in two counties in the weeks following the 2020 election. Yet the failure to exclude non-compliant ballots was essentially an invalid audit.
The audit also comes at a time when similar efforts in Arizona have continued to uncover irregularities and gain national attention. In particular, Congressmen Matt Gaetz (R-Ariz.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Texas), traveled to Arizona to rally in support of the audit, making audits in other states more likely. The Wisconsin audit is expected to end in the fall of 2021, and Biden won by more than 20,000 votes in Wisconsin.
