6 Chinese censor Facebook content! New York Post’s “Algorithm Modification” Scandal

The United States is about to hold the 2020 presidential election on November 3, but there are rumors that social media Facebook and Twitter are blocking the Biden “emailgate” news. In response, U.S. media revealed that Facebook had hired at least six Chinese people to conduct censorship work and modify its algorithm to get the best results, making the reports of the Biden family’s contacts with China disappear.

The New York Post’s Sohrab Ahmari reports that a former Facebook insider provided information last week that the company has hired at least six Chinese people who “are censoring” content on Facebook, and that Facebook’s bosses believe that the company has secured H-1B professional and technical work visas for these people so that they can do the job.

The Chinese work also determines what kind of content will appear on Facebook, putting specific content into algorithms and neural nets, testing various combinations to get the best results, excluding “fringe content” such as stories about Biden’s dealings with China, and they don’t ban specific “Trump events” but content about Trump that is “too conservative” will be relegated to the back of the display order.

Amari mentioned that he found that of the six Chinese, one had a master’s degree from the Chinese Academy of Sciences University; one had a master’s degree in computer science from Jilin University; a Chinese employee who became a Facebook engineering manager had a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Nanjing University; and a Facebook engineer had worked at Huawei, a company backed by the Chinese Communist Party, and at the Beijing National Railroad.
