French presidential election second round of new polls Macron and Le Pen still intends to lead

Macron and French far-right leader Marilyn Le Pen remain the two potential “finalists” in the 2022 presidential election, according to an opinion poll. In the second round of the poll of voting intentions, outgoing Republican President Emmanuel Macron would win with 53 percent of the vote (down 1 point from a month ago), compared to 47 percent for Marilyn Le Pen, president of the National Unity Party (up 1 point from a month ago.) Macron had received 66.1 percent of the vote in the 2017 election, while Le Pen got 33.9 percent.

According to AFP, a survey conducted by French firm Harris Interactive for Challenges magazine shows that the gap between Macron and Lepen in the first round is still very small.

Those who voted for Marilyn Le Pen the most were 35-49 year olds, while Emmanuel Macron was mainly favored by those 65 and older.

On economic issues, 61% of French people judge Marilyn Le Pen to be “untrustworthy” compared to 53% for Macron.

According to the poll, 57 percent of those surveyed also believe there are “too many immigrants in France,” an assessment that climbs to 94 percent among Marilyn Le Pen supporters and 84 percent among Les Républicains (the right, the opposition), far more than any other party.

According to the report, the poll, conducted by Harris Interactive for Challenge magazine, was conducted online from May 14 to 17 and polled a representative sample of 1,236 people over the age of 18 in the French population, according to the quota law. The margin of error is between 1.4 and 3.1 points.

The message did not mention the poll’s impact on the candidacy and first round of voting, as well as the other candidates’ second round matchups.
