Fox News reported on May 19 that the well-known Black Lives Matter organization declared “solidarity with the Palestinians” on Monday, a week after Hamas terrorists in Gaza began firing relentless rockets into Israel, indiscriminately shelling Israeli civilian targets, and blowing up buildings.
“Black Lives Matter stands in solidarity with the Palestinians and is committed to ending all forms of colonialism and continuing to advocate for the liberation of Palestine,” the group tweeted. We have always done so and will continue to do so. “
The statement was immediately praised by anti-Semitic and anti-Israel organizations around the world, with an immediate “thank you” tweet from the controversial Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS), which has been calling for an economic embargo against Israel for years.
U.S. commentator Cao Changqing said Black Lives Matter’s statement shows that “this organization is now openly standing with Hamas and challenging order and civilization. This is not a ‘clash of civilizations,’ as Huntington called it, but a clash of barbarism and civilization.”
The military conflict escalated dramatically on May 10 when Hamas began firing rocket after rocket into Jerusalem following violent clashes between Israeli police and Palestinian protesters at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a holy site for Jews and Muslims. Despite hundreds of Israeli counter-attacks and the use of the Iron Dome defense system, the rockets continued to fly.
